"Dramatically Different"
Kushilob is a multilingual theatre collective born from the passion of South Asian expatriate artists in the Greater Philadelphia and Delaware region. Founded in 2016 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we are a community of storytellers and creators committed to challenging boundaries—of thought, belief, and stereotype.
Over the past decade, we have explored a wide range of theatrical forms, producing both original and adapted works that illuminate the complexity of human experience and foster cross-cultural dialogue. Our repertoire spans narratives that recover marginalized voices of the past to stories that encounter the urgencies of contemporary life.
We actively collaborate with artists from Asia and the North American diaspora, host intensive workshops, and engage in theatrical exchanges across the United States. Each of our productions strives for cultural resonance — every performance serving as a bridge across worlds, perspectives, and communities.
Inspired by Bengal's legendary playwright Manoj Mitra, Kushilob's inaugural production brought to life an enduring fable of good against evil. Mesh-O-Rakkhosh traces the destructive arc of human greed, its fallibility playing out across ages, classes, and sexes with equal, unflinching force. A bold debut that announced Kushilob's commitment to theatre rooted in literary heritage and moral depth.
